Artist Bio

Anastasiya “Nastia” Craig is a Ukrainian-born visual artist whose practice centers on abstract painting and mixed media collage, transforming layers of painted fragments into dynamic compositions that explore the balance between chaos and order. Her process blends intuitive expression with analytical structure, often reflecting themes of identity, transformation, and discovery shaped by her immigrant journey. While her background in interior design informs her sensitivity to space and composition, her artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at venues including Overture Center for the Arts, Promega Corporation, Arts + Literature Laboratory, and the Miller Art Museum. Her creative achievements have been highlighted in regional publications, and within the Madison community she is also recognized for her interior design contributions—as owner of Pink House Designs, LLC—to restaurants such as Sushi RED, Jacknife, and Forage Kitchen (Middleton). Craig’s artworks are held in private and corporate collections across the United States, resonating with audiences drawn to their visual energy and layered meaning.

Few Words From The Artist:

For as long as I remember, creating art has been a major part of my existence. It is a process that grows and evolves with me, posing new ways to express feelings, explore ideas and experiment with techniques. To me, the most special part of this process is finding the moment when the art piece becomes more than just a visual composition but engages the viewers in discovering a new meaning that they can interpret for themselves.

Few words about current work:

My mixed media collage approach is a multiple step process involving painting and drawing on polyester and other types of film that is then cut, arranged and adhered to a substrate and coated with a finishing medium. This process is ever-evolving and embraces experimentation and incorporation of various techniques. The development of the collage composition is mostly intuitive and non-premeditative on one hand, but at the same time is reflective of the overall state of my mind at the time of creation and is often influences by external events.
